Miss you April 21, 2009 23:22
Andrea    Banff, Canmore ...now Calgary
Your friendship, your spirit...miss you dearly.I think of you often...always when on my way to the mountains...sometimes I swear I hear you laughing. I have a son now and wish you could meet him! He's like you in some ways...full of life, ready for adventure and a smile and laugh that is so pure....don't know why it took me so long to write...still hurts to miss you.

Here is another picture of our beloved Chicken.
Chicken loved to be stretched out as far as chickenly possible and especially loved being used as a punching bag.

the flight and plight of Chicken February 10, 2009 02:01

.
My sister got me a rubber chicken one christmas. We always give each other really cool presents at Christmas, so you can imagine how I was a little confused as to why she gave me this damn thing. She had made a nest for it; some eggs, grass, the whole barn! (Keep in mind she was in her 20s! Ha ha) She was really disappointed when I admitted to her that I didn't like the chicken and she was hurt when I told her I didn't know what to do with it.
Then came Robyn and our extended family at Cedar St. in North Bay and somehow Chicken became a beloved pet, which we hung by it's neck (as you do with beloved pets) through the iron vent of the house. One could not pass Chicken without giving him a punch to the gut: "Good morning, Chicken."
When he was occasionally somehow released from his noose, I remember certain people running Chicken over with their cars and engaging him in football and tug-of-war. Chicken was tough. He never once complained.

Chicken has been lost over the past decade; most likely in transit or to thievery because everyone was jealous of my Chicken).

I miss Chicken. Robyn and I are on a hunt to find a surrogate Chicken. If you have seen one, please let us know.

Thank you.

marnie    canmore, ab
i miss you. i wish you were here to hang out and laugh with.

You have been in my thoughts alot lately.

Sometimes your memory gives me strength to deal with my chronic pain, as I know how you handled yours with grace. I also have days I can not walk. It can be so frustrating and depressing... to go from being someone so active and healthy to being so limited that walking a block or 2 is hard. You were such a fighter Paula... I am drawing on that inspiration to try and get by these days.

Remembering & missing you, 4 years later.

Wishing your family & friends a happy holiday too!

love,
marnie
Stork & Owl December 14, 2008 23:18
c'est    moi!
.
i miss sharing music with you
so this i share!

Faceless fall, from this life and awe
If you can't see the stars
You've probably gone too far
"What's this dying for?"
Asks the stork that soars.
With the owl, high above
canyons mighty walls
Owl said "Death's a door,
that love walks through
In and out
In and out
Back and forth
Back and forth."
Turn from the fear
Of the storms that might be
Oh let it free
That caged on fire thing
Oh holds its hands
It'll feel like lightening
Oh in your arms safe from the storms
Candle of life
Let it soothe this
Oh holds its hands
And we'll know what truth is
Oh in its arms safe from the storms.

My dearest Poopy,

................

Am I doing okay? I will always tell people in an extremely positive tone, that I am fine. Am I fine? I experience intense moments of joy. However, as soon as I miss a few nights of sleep, I forget what I have learned and get frustrated. Grrrr.

This Sunday, I envisioned getting out of the car - in the middle of a major blizzard - to walk endlessly in the snowy void, leaving everything behind.

I slept last night and have found centre again...makes me realize...that there is a much bigger picture. Struggling is pointless. I cannot control everything in my life. I can, however, influence.
Then there is peace.
Absolute peace.

I miss you... thank you for your songs and signs that you are there when I need you. I miss you always. Never a day goes by that I don't think of you.
a quote that made me think of you February 21, 2008 17:38
Marnie    Canmore
I could see you saying this to us...

"... Be as I am -- a reluctant enthusiast... a part time crusader, a half hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it's still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forest, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves ... !"

-Edward Abbey

Your memory still lives strong. It is a clear sunny day and I feel your powerful energy in the valley. I miss you, but I know you are at peace.

namaste

big love,

Marnie
